Kinnaird brief
What site does the brief cover?
Kinnaird is a clachan about 1km east of Moulin on the A924 to
Straloch. The clachan has two distinct areas separated by pasture.
The western area consists of a number of older houses which were
constructed in the mid to late 1800s, although the only Listed
Building is Carngeal House (category B).
Generally, the area is characterised by large detached houses
set in large plots, orientated to take advantage of the south
facing slope with its spectacular views over the strath.
There are two areas within the clachan boundary which can
accommodate additional development. These are to the south of the
A924 which measures 0.5 ha (Area A) and to the north of the A924
which measures 1.2 ha (Area B). The areas are shown in the
brief.
What does the Local Plan say about development in this
area?
Development opportunities were identified in the clachan as part
of an overall strategy of identifying small scale development
opportunities throughout the Highland Local Plan area and also to provide
alternative housing opportunities close to Pitlochry.
You should look at Map 36 (Kinnaird) from the Local Plan to
see the clachan boundary.
When will the brief be used?
The brief will be used to help us when determining planning
applications for housing development in Kinnaird.
What if the proposal does not accord with the
brief?
Developers whose proposals do not accord with the guidance set
out in the brief must be prepared to demonstrate that they will
achieve a better design solution more in keeping with the character
of the area.
