Market Park Appeal
What was the decision?
The Reporter considered the evidence presented at the inquiry,
the written submissions, and site inspections and decided to allow
both the appeals and granted planning permission.
What was the background to the inquiry?
Kensington and Edinburgh Estates Ltd applied to us for consent
for a superstore and two non-food retail units and
associated car parking. The proposal also included a petrol
filling station. Although the application was in outline, an
indicative layout plan was submitted as part of the
application. This shows the main store being located at the
northern part of the site, with the servicing yard being at the
eastern corner with access taken from Duchlage Road, and the other
two units at the south-eastern part of the application site.
We refused the application as we were concerned with the scale of
the development and the loss of open space.
