Why was the policy reviewed?
The policy was reviewed in response to a growing concern that
the policy approved in 2005 was too relaxed allowing for
inappropriate development particularly in relation to the scale of
steading redevelopments.
Strategic Environmental Assessment
A Strategic Environmental Assessment of the policy was
undertaken and the Environmental Report was published alongside the
draft policy for consultation between 30 January and 27 March
2009. All the responses were analysed and we have revised the
Environmental Report to take account of them. We would like
to thank everyone who responded as the comments have helped inform
the finalised policy.
What happens next?
We will use the policy as non-statutory guidance until it is
incorporated into the Local Development Plan. It supersedes
the 2005 policy and will be treated as a material consideration
when determining planning applications.
