What the sustainable development planning team does
The main function of the Policy team is to evaluate the potential for change and produce policy based plans and strategies to guide future change, provide certainty for all those with an interest in the area's future, secure sustainable development and achieve regeneration. The statutory Development Plan provides the basis on which planning decisions are made.
The functions of the policy team include -
- Preparing, monitoring and reviewing the Development Plan, which currently comprises the Structure Plan and six Local Plans (Eastern, Highland, Kinross, Perth, Perth Central and Strathearn)
- Preparing Supplementary Planning Guidance
- Providing input to the Community Plan
- Providing expert planning policy advice; and
- Providing a planning input to strategies of other agencies
We generally submit reports to the Enterprise and Infrastucture Committee which usually meets on Wednesdays at 2pm in the Council Chambers at 2 High Street, Perth.
