Neighbour notification
Neighbour Notification is our responsibility. The process of
Neighbour Notification takes place as soon as possible after a
valid application has been received, not before. We will send out
Notices to those having an interest in land coterminous with or
within 20 metres of the boundary of the land for which development
is proposed. In addition, we must advertise applications
in the local press.
Under the Regulations, the cost of this advertisement must be borne
by the applicant, unless the application affects a conservation
area or the setting of a listed building. The current
advertisement charge is shown in the
schedule of fees. This sum must be paid within 21 days of being
notified to the applicant and before we can fully determine the
application. Accordingly, it will speed up the determination of the
application if the advertisement fee is submitted with the
application, where such a fee is required.
Those notified will have 21 days to make representations from the
date the notification is posted or 14, 21, or 28 days from the date
of the advertisement, depending on the type of application. The
relevant period allowed for comments is stated in the
advertisement. Those who have made representations
to a prospective applicant under statutory pre-application
arrangements for 'major' applications may still object to the
application when it is submitted.
