How long does it take

How long will it take to make a decision on a planning application?

We should decide your application within eight weeks. Large or complex applications may take longer.

We should be able to give you an idea about the likely timetable. If we cannot decide your application within eight weeks, we should obtain your written consent to extend the period.

What if we haven't made a decision within eight weeks?

If we have not done so, you can appeal to Scottish Ministers. But appeals can take several months to decide and it may be quicker to reach agreement with us.
