What will I have to pay a fee for?

You will have to pay a fee for a planning application when you intend to make  

  • an application for planning permission  including "retrospective" applications where development has already taken place  
  • an application for approval of reserved matters following the grant of outline planning permission  
  • an application for consent to display advertisements 
  • a deemed application arising from enforcement notice appeals  
  • an application arising from certificates of lawful use or development  
  • certain applications for the prior approval of a planning authority  

When will I not need to pay a fee?

You do not have to pay a fee when you are making

  • an application for listed building consent  
  • an application for certificates of appropriate alternative development  
  • an application to lop or fell trees subject to tree preservation orders  
Applications for consents required by any condition attached to a full planning permission, nor to any attached to an outline permission if the condition relates to anything other than a "reserved matter" as defined in the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (Scotland) Order 1992.
