Supplementary guidance
What is supplementary planning guidance?
Supplementary planning guidance is formal policy that has been prepared and adopted in accordance with accepted procedures including public consultation. It includes design guidance, development briefs and guidelines on particular issues (for example wind energy or telecommunications). Supplementary planning guidance is given considerable weight in planning decisions.
Are there other policies we might take into account?
We may treat other policy as material to planning decisions. This can include policy contained in the Community Plan or Corporate Plan, or may amount merely to custom and practice. However, the weight to be given to other policy will depend on the circumstances of the case. However, these will not be given as much weight as the Development Plan, Supplementary Planning Guidance or Government policy.
We may take into account Supplementary Planning Guidance we have issued, and other policy but the weight to be given to each will depend on the circumstances.
Can I get copies of the supplementary planning guidance?
You can download copies of the documents from the downloads section of the page.
