Glass Recycling for Business

Over 250 businesses already benefit from this recycling service with around 15 tonnes of glass being collected and recycled into new glass products each week.

What types of glass can be recycled?

You can recycle all colours of glass bottles and jars. Please remove the lids and tops.

This service cannot accept other types of glass such as plate glass, Pyrex and light bulbs. These types of glass have different properties and cannot be recycled by the same process.

If your business produces this type of glass please contact the Customer Service Centre on 01738 476476 for further details on disposal options.

How can I recycle my business glass?

Glass bottles and jars are collected in 240 litre red-lidded wheelie bins. Bins with a larger capacity may be available on request.

Perth & Kinross Council offer a flexible collection service in a dedicated glass collection vehicle.

Why should my business recycle glass?

Many businesses find that glass is one of their heaviest and most bulky waste items. Glass is 100% recyclable and can be endlessly recycled with no loss in quality.

Recycling your glass bottles and jars:

  • Does not incur landfill tax so can save your business money.
  • Saves resources. Recycling 1 tonne of glass saves 1.2 tonnes of raw materials.
  • Saves energy. Using recycled glass typically saves around 30% of the energy used to make new glass.
