Things you can compost

Almost anything that is of vegetable origin can be composted: if it once lived it can be composted and reduced into nutrients for micro-organisms and plants.

Yes Please:

Raw fruit and vegetable scraps
Coffee grounds
Tea bags
Eggshells
Soft cardboard (egg boxes, toilet roll tubes)
Cut flowers
Vegetarian pet bedding
Dustpan and vacuum cleaner dust
Junk mail (excluding plastics)

However, there are some things that should not be added to the bin as these may attract vermin.

No thanks:

Cooked food
Dog or cat faeces
Meat or fish
Bones
Diseased plants
Disposable nappies
Fat and oil
Coal and coke ash
