Paper Waste

The average household produces 300kg of recyclable waste paper either by reading newspapers and magazines, using office paper or just receiving junk mail.

Your blue lidded wheelie bin allows you to collect and store your waste paper. Please place the contents of junk mail, magazines, brochures, newspapers and office quality paper only in your blue lidded wheelie bin.

Please do not place envelopes, plastic wrapping, cardboard or aluminium cans in your blue lidded wheelie bin and don't use plastic bags or liners.

What kind of paper can go in the bin?

The contents of junk mail, magazines, brochures, newspapers and office quality paper.

What cannot be placed in the bin?

Cardboard, envelopes, plastic wrapping, aluminium cans, plastic bags and liners.

How often will my bin be emptied?

Every four weeks.

When do I put my bin out?

Please see your calendar for details of your collection date each month. Please take your bin to the kerbside by 7.30 am on the morning of the collection with the lid fully closed.

Where do I place my bin for collection?

Wheel your bin to the normal collection point unless otherwise stated.

Will I still be able to put my paper out in a plastic bag for collection?

No. Only paper presented in a blue lidded wheelie bin will be uplifted.

Will there still be a kerbside collection for aluminium cans?

No there will be no kerbside collection for aluminium cans. You can recycle them at most recycling centres or recycling points.

Will this paper collection affect my domestic waste collection?

No. But you should see a reduction in you general waste.

How big is the paper recycling bin?
