Ink Cartridge Recycling

Ink cartridges are accepted for recycling and reuse by a wide range of charities and reuse projects. There are different types of ink cartridges: Small ink (inkjet) cartridges and big (ink tanks or laser toner) cartridges.

Where to Recycle, Donate or Refill Ink Cartridges?

Support a charity by donating cartridges for reuse and recycling. Visit the Perth & Kinross Charity Map to find your nearest option. If you have a constant supply of catridges you can set up a collection point with a regular uplift service from a charity.

Small ink cartridges are often recycled by the same companies that recycle mobile phones.  Local shops, such as Ink Twice in Perth, refill both laser and inkjet cartridges. Some also sell refill kits.

Visit Sort-It to find out where you can recycle or refill your ink cartridges.

Why Recycle or Reuse Ink Cartridges?

By recycling ink cartridges you are helping to save natural resources. If you landfill ink catridges, reusable plastics and metals are lost.

What Happens to Recycled or Donated Cartridges?

After checking that the cartridges are in working order, the left-over ink is removed, the container is cleaned, refilled and tested before being taped up and packaged for re-sale.

The few cartridges that are not in working order have their plastics and metals recovered for recycling.
