Timber (wood) is a biodegradable material, when it degrades (rots) in landfill it produces the greenhouse gas methane. 

Donating wood and timber

You can donate a variety of dry wood products to the local community project Wood Again in Perth.

Some types of wood donations are welcomed by Wisecraft in Blairgowrie, Wisecraft is a Perth & Kinross Association for Voluntary Service project (PKAVS).

Wood Again and Wisecraft work to create sustainable jobs and/or training for people in the local community.

Where can timber be recycled?

Timber can be recycled at Aberfeldy, Auchterarder, Blairgowrie, Friarton (Perth), Pitlochry and Kinross recycling centres.
Any type of timber or wood is accepted, including tree trunks, branches, painted or varnished wood, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), wooden furniture and leftover DIY timber.

Please note that large pieces of wood or timber are not accepted in the kerbside brown-lidded recycling bin.
