Tyres
Tyres and inner tubes can be recycled at the
Recycling Centres. All types of tyres and tubes are accepted,
including motor vehicle, bike and wheelchair tyres.
Please note that only a maximum of two tyres can
be accepted at the Recycling Centres from each
visitor.
What Happens to the Tyres?
All tyres collected by Perth & Kinross Council are passed to
sub-contractors who retread them for reuse or use them as
fuel.
When the tyres are retreaded, 70-80% of the rubber needed is
reused. The tyres that are not suitable for retreading are
shredded and used as a fuel, known as tyre derived
fuel.
