Waste and Recycling Bin Policy
Last updated | 07/01/2008
Perth & Kinross Coucil will be introducing a Waste and Recycling Bin Policy on 3 September 2007.
The Council launched an informal bin policy with the introduction of wheeled bins in 1997. The message that bins should be presented with the lid closed and without side waste has been consistently reinforced through literature to householders and commercial premises in the last 10 years.
However, due to stipulations from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in relation to manual handling operations and the presentation of waste and assisted lifts procedures, a formal Waste and Recycling Bin Policy was formally approved by the elected members of The Environment Committee (13 June 2007).
The policy, for both householders and businesses, now formally asks that bins be presented before 7.30am on the day of collection, that bin lids are completely closed and that no side or excess waste is put out. Should any of these rules not be followed then the wheeled bin and/or excess waste will not be uplifted.
