Perth and Kinross Waste Collection Commitment

Last updated | 01/11/2011

Perth & Kinross Council signed up to the UK Waste Collection Commitment in 2010 to help residents understand what they should expect from their waste and recycling collection services, to help ensure that it is value for money and that it meets their needs.

The Commitment is based on research into what people like and feel could be improved about their existing services and waste and recycling issues that are important to them. These include regular and reliable collections and keeping residents informed about the services they can expect. It was developed at a national level and sets out ten points which councils will meet in delivering their service. These are:

1.  To explain clearly what services you can expect to receive;
2.  To provide regular collections;
3.  To provide a reliable collection service;
4.  To consider any special requests that individual households may have;
5.  To design services and carry out collections in a way that doesn’t produce litter;
6.  To collect as many materials for recycling as we can and explain what happens to them;
7.  To explain clearly what service rules are and the reasons for them;
8.  To tell residents in good time if changes have to be made to services, even temporarily;
9.  To respond to complaints received about services; and
10. To tell all residents about this commitment to collecting waste.
