New glass recycling point at Perth supermarket

Recycling for residents in Perth's city centre has just become more convenient with the introduction of a new Recycling Point, in the car park of the Lidl supermarket on Glasgow Road.

Situated at the car park's south east corner, near the pedestrian crossing on Glasgow Road, the new Recycling Point provides recycling bins for green, brown and clear glass bottles and jars.

The Perth and Kinross area already has one of the highest recycling rates in Scotland. In an effort to keep increasing the level of waste recycled, Perth & Kinross Council is continually working to make recycling as easy as possible by providing facilities closer to where local residents need them.

Environment Convener, Councillor Alan Grant, said: ȁC;Glass bottles and jars are the main type of waste that cannot be recycled at the kerbside. Therefore, the installation of these new recycling bins at one of our local supermarkets will we hope be popular with residents and encourage them to recycle glass rather than put it out with their general waste."
