Extended opening hours for Recycling Centres

Extended opening hours at Perth & Kinross Council's Recycling Centres have been introduced with immediate effect. These changes will make it even easier for members of the public in Perth and Kinross to recycle their waste.
The increased access follows a survey undertaken at the Recycling Centres in 2007 which highlighted that extended opening hours were the key change users wanted to see. The new hours will be in operation all year round and replace the Summer and Winter arrangements currently in place.
For Friarton Recycling Centre, Perth the opening hours all year will be:
Monday – Friday 9.00am – 7.00pm
Saturday & Sunday 9.00am – 5.00pm
For Blairgowrie, Crieff, Kinross and Pitlochry Recycling Centres the opening hours all year will be:
Monday - Friday 9.00am – 7.00pm
Saturday & Sunday 9.00am – 5.00pm
For Aberfeldy, Auchterarder and Bankfoot Recycling Centre the opening hours all year will be:
Tuesdays & Thursday 2.00pm – 7.00pm
Saturday & Sunday 10.00am – 5.00pm
The recent redevelopments of Recycling Centres throughout the area have also enabled additional facilities to be introduced where householders can recycle timber, cardboard, metal, inert waste such as soil and stones, waste electrical and electronic equipment (for example, fridges, televisions, hi-fi's), aluminium and steel food and drinks cans, aerosols, and aluminium foil.
Environment Convener, Councillor Alan Grant said:"We are responding to the increasing and very positive demand for access to recycling facilities by extending and expanding the opening hours at our Recycling Centres. Providing standardised hours throughout the year should make it easier for people to recycle their waste at the times most convenient to them."
