New Kerbside Recycling Datefinder

Last updated | 30/05/2008

Perth & Kinross Council has recently launched a database that will allow householders to find their recycling collection dates online.   The new service is being offered in addition to the calendars that are posted annually to householders who participate in the garden waste, paper waste and the new trial kerbside recycling service.

Work has been ongoing since the launch of the community website in March last year, to collate data and build a new database providing households with an easily searchable access to the collection dates.

Environment Committee Convener, Councillor Mike Barnacle, said, "The database is very simple to use.  Members of the public who currently have access to the kerbside recycling services can find out the next two dates for collection for each of the kerbside recycling bins simply by entering their postcode and selecting their address. It is also possible to print off the dates for the following months should you have misplaced your recycling calendar."

The database forms part of the electronic service delivery targets for e-government where information can be provided that complements the existing service and by providing a further information access point for the public.

Vice Convener, Councillor Ken Lyall, added, "Use of the internet is now commonplace for many people and it is often the first place many people look for information. The Council already publishes a great deal of information about waste and recycling online and the new online kerbside calendar will improve this and make information about frontline services more accessible. This will be a useful service to many residents in Perth and Kinross."
