Comfort for residents and visitors to Aberfeldy
Members of the public and visitors to Aberfeldy now have access to improved toilet facilities thanks to four new premises signing up to take part in the Perth and Kinross Comfort Scheme.
The LOCUS Centre, Recreation Centre, Breadalbane Tea Room & Bakery and the Putting Green will now offer their maintained facilities to the public, to replace the unattended toilets at Burnside. These new partnerships offer not only far improved faculties, but better opening hours as well as a better spread of faculties throughout the town.
The facilities are available between the following hours:
- LOCUS Centre – Mon to Sat, 10am - 4pm ; Sun, 10am - 2pm
- Recreation Centre – Mon to Fri, 9am – 9pm ; Sat & Sun, 10am – 4pm
- Breadalbane Tea Room & Bakery – Mon to Sat, 7am to 4pm
- Putting Green (Seasonal from Mar-Oct) – Mon to Sun, 10.30am – 7pm
Local Member and Highland Ward Councillor Ken Lyall said: “I am satisfied that the Comfort Schemes now in place in Aberfeldy are a huge improvement on the run-down, non attended facility in Burnside. I believe that what has been agreed can cater for locals and tourists, particularly bus tours, and I welcome this. The signage for the comfort schemes is now in place around the town which will make it easy and quick for tourists to be directed to the closest facility.”
Member for Highland Perthshire, Councillor Eleanore Howie, said: "I am sure the comfort scheme in Aberfeldy will be just as successful as those in Pitlochry have proved to be. The improved signage now in place will make it easier for folk too."
The Council is looking to extend the Comfort Schemes across the Perth and Kinross to areas that do not currently have a partnership or a public toilet. Any businesses interested in becoming a partner should contact The Environment Service Helpline for details.
