Paper Recycling Campaign - June 2007
A new campaign was launched on the 4th July to emphasise the importance of recycling and to highlight the range of paper that can be recycled in Perth and Kinross.
How can paper be recycled?
Paper can be recycled in a number of ways in Perth and Kinross:
- Through the Paper Waste Kerbside Recycling Service
- At Recycling Centres and Points
- Through the paper recycling service for businesses
What types of paper can be recycled?
You can recycle the following types of paper in Perth and Kinross.
- Brochures and leaflets - Including the contents of unwanted mail
- Catalogues - Not hard backed catalogues
- Magazines - Including glossy magazines
- Newspapers - All types of newspapers
- Office paper - Including printer/photocopier paper and note paper
What can't be recycled?
It is very important that only the correct paper waste is recycled. The paper mill we send our paper to cannot accept:
- Envelopes/Post-it Notes
- Cardboard
- Christmas cards/Wrapping paper
- Hard backed catalogues
- Telephone Directories/Books
- Wallpaper
- Dyed paper
Putting any of the above materials into your blue-lidded bin or in a Paper Recycling Point could result in your bin not being uplifted or prevent a whole lorry load of paper from being recycled.
You can recycle cardboard at certain Recycling Centres and Telephone directories at all Recycling Centres.
As part of the campaign a leaflet had been produced providing details of paper recycling in Perth and Kinross. It is being distributed through libraries, sports centres and council offices. You can also download it from the link on the right of this page.
