Can Recycling Campaign
Last updated | 20/11/2008
In November can recycling will be promoted as part of an ongoing campaign to emphasise the importance of recycling and highlight the energy that can be saved.
How can cans be recycled?
Cans can be recycled at your local Recycling Centres & Points
What types of cans can be recycled?
You can recycle the following types of cans in Perth and Kinross.
ü
Food cans, including soup, pet food, fish, meat, fruit and vegetable cans.
ü
Soft drinks cans
, including fizzy drinks cans.
ü
Alcoholic drinks cans
, including beer and cider cans.
ü
Aerosol cans
, including hairspray, deodorant and household cleaners.
Please rinse you cans. You don not need to remove the labels and can lids can also be recycled.
What can't be recycled?
Please do not but the following items in your local Can Recycling Point
û
Aluminium foil
, because this is recycled by a different process.
û
Paint tins
, because these are heavily contaminated with paint.
û
Plastic bags
, because these will contaminate the recycling process.
Putting any of the above materials into a Can Recycling Point could prevent a whole lorry load of recyclates from being recycled.
As part of the campaign a leaflet had been produced providing details of can recycling in Perth and Kinross. It is being distributed through libraries, sports centres and council offices. You can also download it from the link on the right of this page.
