Waste Awareness for Schools

Education and Awareness is a priority if young people are to think about waste differently. By incorporating waste awareness into lessons and by promoting Reduce, Re-use and Recycle within the school grounds, the chance that the message will be taken home and maintained throughout life is greater.

Perth and Kinross Council can offer a comprehensive programme of waste awareness, which links well with the Curriculum for Excellence through Sustainable Development Education and the Eco-schools programme, supplement classroom work, or be a stand alone project.

Please view our Waste Education Resource Pack for Schools for further information and ideas. The Resouce Pack can also be viewed as a PDF and downloaded from the right hand column.

Our leaflet, Waste Free Packed Lunches, is also available to download in PDF format from the right hand column.

Waste Awareness Coordinators are available to provide the following:

  • Interactive talks and presentations about waste or litter
  • Whole school assemblies about waste or litter
  • Floor games based on the reduce, reuse and recycle theme
  • Waste Free Packed Lunch Activity (see leaflet in the download section on the right)
  • Visits to the WEBWalk
  • Eco-days and half days in conjunction with other Environment Service departments
