Donate Items for Reuse at Friarton Recycling Centre
Last updated | 13/06/2011
There are a considerable number of items disposed of
by members of the public at local Recycling Centers that
are still in a good condition, and could still be used. To
help make sure at least some of these items are reused,
Perth & Kinross Council is trialing a ‘Reuse
Container’ at Friarton Recycling Centre.
Members of the public coming to Friarton Recycling Centre are
encouraged to take their reusable items to the Reuse Container on
the site. The container is locked for security, just ask one
of our site attendants who will help you access the
container.
The Reuse Container accepts the following items:
- Furniture
- Crockery/ornaments
- Pots/pans
- Household lamps
- IT equipment (except monitors)
- Cameras
- Phones and Video/DVD players
All items should be in a reusable condition and soft furnishings
must comply with Furniture & Fire Regulations (1988). They must
have labels attached to confirm this
The aim of the Reuse Container is to divert waste from
landfill, as well as to donate items to local charities for
resale and redistribution in the local community.
The contents of the Reuse Container are collected by the
Salvation Army 40:20 Project for resale at affordable prices in the
community. Perth College collect the electrical items for repair
and redistribution within the community. For anyone donating an old
computer, the hard drives are wiped before the computers are
reused.
Both projects benfiting from the reuse container are helping to
provide employment and training opportunities in the local
area.
