Slow Food Perth
Slow Food Perth is one of nine Slow Food groups or convivia
across Scotland. It was formally established in June
2007.
Slow Food Perth organises a regular series of informal Slow
Dinners and other events, including visits to local
producers. Although Slow Food is a membership organisation,
you don't have to be a member of Slow Food to come along to
events.
In particular, Slow Food Perth hosts a monthly Slow Dinner on
the first Tuesday of each month. This takes place in
different local restaurants that specialise in using quality,
seasonal, local produce.
Each dinner comprises a set menu two course meal and costs
£15 for Slow Food Members and £18 for
non-members. These dinners are fun, informal get-togethers
where we simply enjoy good food and convivial company.
As an example of our visits to local producers, around 20 people
from Slow Food Perth visited Griersons Organic Farm at Tibbermore,
near Perth for a walk round the farm and discussion about organic
methods with farmer Hugh Grierson.
We have also joined with Slow Food Fife to visit Fletchers' of
Auchtermuchty and were treated to a cooking demonstration by
Nichola Fletcher.
Slow Food Perth has produced a calendar of food-related events
taking place between August and December.
