Slow Food Perth
Slow Food Perth is one of eight Slow Food groups or convivia
across Scotland. It was formally established in June 2007.
Slow Food Perth organises a regular series of informal Slow
Dinners and other events including visits to local producers.
In particular, Slow Food Perth hosts a monthly Slow Dinner on
the first Tuesday of each month. This takes place in different
local restaurants that specialise in using quality, seasonal, local
produce.
Each dinner costs £15 per head for a set menu, two course
meal. The dinners are open to Slow Food members and non-members
alike and are fun, informal get-togethers where we simply enjoy
good food and convivial company.
As an example of our visits to local producers, over 20 people
from Slow Food Perth recently visited Stewart Tower Dairy near
Stanley in Perthshire to see how they make their wonderful ice
cream. We saw the whole production process from field to plate (or
cone, to be more precise) and had an opportunity to sample some of
their 18 different ice cream flavours.
