Awards and Accolades
Perthshire food and drink companies, some of them Cittaslow
Business Supporters, have been busy winning awards and accolades
recently. The Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards
2009 saw wins for Summer Harvest Oils, Simon Howie Butchers and
Iain Burnett, The Highland Chocolatier, while in the Great Taste
Awards (The Guild of Fine Food), Cairn O'Mohr, the Handmade Oatcake
Co, Dunkeld Smoked Salmon, Atholl Glens, Charlotte Flower
Chocolates, Rannoch Smokery, Kenmore Bakery and Gloagburn Farm Shop
all received awards.
In the Restaurant sector, amongst a clutch of awards for local
businesses, 63 Tay Street won Best Customer Service Award at the
Scottish Restaurant Awards and Ryan Young, Head Chef at Opus One at
the New County Hotel won a Gold Medaille d'Or at the Scottish Hotel
of the Year Awards.
More recently, Opus One Restaurant in the New County Hotel,
Perth recently won 'Urban Restaurant of the Year' category at the
Scottish Restaurant Awards 2010 while, at the same ceremony,
Ardeonaig Hotel, on the south shore of Loch Tay picked up the 'Best
Hotel Restaurant' award. Pete Gottgens and his team from
Ardeonaig also recently picked up a Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland
Food Award.
