Child Trafficking
On 23 February 2009 the Scottish Government published 'Safeguarding Children in Scotland who may have
been Trafficked'.
The Guidance outlines the reasons behind
child trafficking, the methods used by traffickers, the roles
and functions of relevant agencies and the procedures to follow to
ensure the safety of children suspected of being trafficked.
It makes clear that children who may be the victims of trafficking
should be assessed and supported in the same way as any other
victims of abuse, and that their individual circumstances and needs
should be kept in mind when planning support. Child
Trafficking cases should first and foremost be considered as cases
of child abuse.
"Children are trafficked for a variety of reasons - sexual
exploitation; domestic servitude and social security fraud to name
but a few..... young people are trafficked from all over the
world and within countries, often resulting in life long and
devastating impact".
(CEOP (2007) A Scoping Project of Child Trafficking in the UK

Robbie Williams, in conjunction with Unicef, has created a video
highlighting Child Trafficking. More
