Structured Deferred Sentence - Right Track 16-21

What is a Structured Deferred Sentence?

It is a project helping you to stay on the "Right Track" after you have been convicted of an offence, but before the Sheriff decides what sentence to give you.  We believe young people can make mistakes and we want to work with them to prevent them from getting into further trouble.

It's a real chance to help them sort their lives, and avoid the possibility of going to prison.

Who is this for?

People between the ages of 16 and 21, who face the risk of prison, and are assessed as unlikely to manage Probation or Community Service.  We will talk to you about what support and services you need to stay out of trouble.

What support can it offer?

The Right Track worker will meet with you shortly after your court appearance and agree a contract with you - setting out what each of you will do. You may receive help in tackling substance misuse, working out family problems, removing yourself from risky situations or simply keeping appointments. Many young people find that it helps them to get their lives back on the right track.
