What you need to know about moving to a care home?
Finding out about individual care homes
We provide a range of services which aim to support you when
moving into a care home for residential or nursing care.
We own 3 care homes of our own at Beechgrove House, Parkdale and Dalweem. There are also care homes across
Perth and Kinross which are privately owned or run by
voluntary organisations or charitable trusts. Read the full list of care homes in this area

We will also arrange for you to receive an assessment of your
care needs to find out the best type of care for you. This is
done by first contacting the Access Team.
Choosing a care home
There are a number of things you will need to consider when
choosing the care home which best meets your needs. Action on
Elder Abuse has produced this document which may help you with
some of the things to consider. Scottish Government has also produced an
information booklet you may find useful when considering your
options.
Financial Guidance for moving to a care home
If you are assessed as needing care in a care home there will
also be a need for you to be financially assessed to help work out
what you can afford to pay towards your care. If you have any

Quality of care in individual care homes
We want everyone in a care home to receive a quality of service
that is acceptable. All adults within a care home will be
covered by our Adult Support and Protection Guidance. All care
homes must be registered with the Scottish Commission for the
Regulation of Care (the Care Commission). Care Homes receive
regular inspections from the Care Commission and you can find
Inspection Reports for any care home on their site.
A number of quality measures are also linked to the fee levels
that are paid to care homes by local authorities. We also
undertake contract monitoring visits to make sure that these
