Securing the Future Awards 2009
In may 2009
Healthy Communities Collaborative was presented with a Silver Award in the field of equalities. This is a first initiative of its kind in Scotland, jointly funded by Perth & Kinross Council and the Community Health Partnership. It encourages and supports older people to tackle health related issues within their communities. The original focus of the action was on preventing falls, later extended to the promotion of physical activity for older people and issues around mental health and well being.
We now have over 100 volunteers making a real difference in their communities. They were involved in a poster campaign on falls risks, regular exercise groups and lunch clubs for older people.
Another, this time brown award in the "working with communities" category, went to
Carse of Gowrie Older People Consultation. This project developed and implement effective ways of consulting with older adults across Perth and Kinross in line with national standards for community engagement.
