Parking Zones

Perth Central Controlled Parking Zone


The centre of Perth is designated as a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ). There are signs on all roads leading into the zone indicating the start of the zone and there are also signs for drivers leaving the zone to indicate the limits of the zone.

Within the CPZ all on-street parking is controlled by a Traffic Regulation Order and any vehicle found parked in contravention of the parking conditions is liable to receive a Penalty Charge Notice of £60.

There are various different restrictions and they include:

Restriction Description
Double yellow lines
  • No parking at any time.
  • Loading may take place on these lines provided there is no loading ban but there must be continuous activity at the vehicle.
  • Blue badge holders may park but only if there is no loading ban and they are not causing an obstruction
Single yellow lines
  • No parking 8am to 6pm.
  • Loading may take place on these lines provided there is no loading ban but there must be continuous activity at the vehicle.
  • Blue badge holders may park but only if there is no loading ban and they are not causing an obstruction
Double yellow marks on the kerb
  • No loading at any time
  • No parking for Blue badge Holders
Single yellow marks on the kerb
  • No loading 8am to 6pm OR no peak hour loading 8.30am to 9.30am and 4.30pm to 6pm.  Check signs at the location
  • No parking for Blue Badge holders during the restricted hours
Loading only bays 30 minutes maximum
  • No parking at any time. Only vehicles actively engaged in loading/unloading may park and then for a maximum of 30 minutes only.
Loading Only Bay 3 minutes maximum
  • No parking at any time. Only vehicles actively engaged in loading /unloading may park and then for a maximum of 3 minutes only
Loading Only bays Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm, 30 minutes maximum
  • Only vehicles actively engaged in loading /unloading may park during the restricted hours and then for a maximum of 30 minutes only.
  • Other vehicles may park outside the times stated.
Parking bays
  • Parking charges apply and there is a maximum duration of stay which varies from street to street, from 30 minutes to 10 hours. Check local signs and ticket issuing machines for charges and length of stay.
  • Vehicles displaying a Blue Badge may park, free of charge and without limit of time.
Parking Bays for Blue Badge Holders
  • Only vehicles displaying a Blue Badge may park. Parking is free of charge and without limit of time.
Motorcycle Parking Bays (most have secured anchorage points)
  • Parking for two wheeled powered vehicles only.
Clearway restrictions at Bus Stops 7am to 11pm.
  • Only buses may stop between the hours of 7 am and 11 pm. Other vehicles may stop to drop off and pick up outside those times.
Coach and Bus Drop off bays
  • Only coaches and buses may stop to drop off and pick up passengers. Maximum stay 10 minutes
Taxi ranks
  • No waiting at any time except taxis.
Residents of properties within the CPZ can apply for a residents parking permit.
