Thistle Travel Card
Last updated | 24/04/2007
If you have difficulty using public transport because of your age, disability, illness or you simply lack confidence, you can carry a Thistle Travel Card. It will make it easier for you to use buses, trains or taxi services.
The scheme has been introduced by voluntary organisations who represent people with learning and/or physical disabilities, people with dementia and people with epilepsy. It is supported by the Scottish Executive and transport companies throughout Scotland.
When you show the card to transport staff they will recognise that you may need extra help during your journey. The card is specially designed with a 'Thistle' logo.
On the back of the card is a clear plastic wallet and you can put extra information in here. This can be the name of the place you are travelling to, an emergency contact number or any other information that will enable you to get the help you need during your journey.
You don't have to register for the scheme, you just have to carry a card and show it to transport staff if you need help. The cards are available from Community Care offices or centres, Council offices or from the Public Transport Unit, telephone 0845 3011130 or
email concessionarytravel@pkc.gov.uk.
The Thistle card does not entitle you to a concessionary or discounted fare.
