Young Persons' Concessionary Travel Scheme

Transport Scotland introduced the Young Persons’ Concessionary Travel Scheme in January 2007.  The scheme provides card holders with access to various travel related discounts.

Application Forms are available from the Council Offices and Libraries listed below.
The scheme requires the identity of applicants to be validated by a Council officer.

Application forms can only be validated by a member of staff at one of the following offices:

Transport Scotland have advised the Council that the applicant must qualify under one of the following categories and provide evidence of eligibility with their application as detailed below:

(i) Between 16 and 18 Years old (inclusive) and be a Perth & Kinross Council Resident

Evidence

Proof of Age
– We will accept any of the following:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport
  • Photo Driving Licence
  • Adoption Certificate
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Young Scot* or other PASS hologrammed card
Proof of Address – We will accept any of the following:

  • Bank or Building society statement   
  • Photo Driving Licence
  • Court order     
  • Local council rent card /tenancy agreement
  • Council Tax bill     
  • Recent original mortgage statement
  • Recent utility Bill    
  • Benefit book/card/or original notification
  • Confirmation from an Electoral search  
  • Evidence from School/College/University   
 *Young Scot/PASS - If you already have a smartcard with the Young Scot logo and the PASS hologram on it, you can use this as proof of age. Young Scot is the national youth information agency for Scotland and is a registered charity. Your new National Entitlement Card will have Young Scot branding if you are eligible, giving you access to all of the Young Scot information services, as well as discounts and special offers in over 1,800 places in Scotland and in over 200,000 places in 42 European countries. The new card will also have the PASS hologram on it, meaning you can use it as a proof-of-age card across the UK. You can find out more information at http://www.youngscot.org/
 
(i) Between 19 and 25 Years Old (inclusive) in a Full Time Volunteering Post and be a Perth & Kinross Council Resident

Evidence
Same as listed above for proof of age and address plus the following for proof of volunteering:

Full-time Volunteers - If you are a full-time volunteer (35 hours+ per week) and you are aged between 19 and 25 (under 26) you will be eligible for a Young Persons Concessionary Travel Card to be introduced early in 2007.

To qualify you must produce evidence from either Project Scotland (membership card) or CSV Scotland (registration letter).
