Development of Rail Services in Perth and Kinross
Perth & Kinross Council is a proactive member of the Highland Rail Partnership (HRP), whose work is to promote the passenger and freight development of the Highland rail network, including links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The East Coast Mainline rail franchise is currently out to tender and the Council has highlighted its aspirations to the four bidders.
Perth & Kinross Council, in partnership with HRP and other stakeholders, has funded a study to look at the potential for re-opening rail stations at Greenloaning and Blackford and to consider the case for a new station at Oudenarde (Bridge of Earn). In January 2005 the consultants, Atkins, published their final report and this will be considered by the Council and its partners in the next few months.
