Travel arrangements
Notification
Parents and Guardians will normally be notified of the transport
arrangements for their child in writing prior to the transport
start date. They will also receive contact details of the operator
that will be undertaking the transport so that they may speak to
them directly about any queries they may have.
The operator's are also given pupil lists which provide
details of all pupils allocated to each contract/service
bus and their designated pick up point.
Information Booklets
All operators, drivers and escorts are issued with a Code of
Conduct booklet that explains how they should perform their duties,
including procedures that should be followed in emergency
situations.
A 'Travelling to School' booklet is distributed to all
parents and pupils travelling on education transport contracts.
This booklet is intended to provide useful background information
about the education transport arrangements made by the Public
Transport Unit.
Travel Passes
Most mainstream pupils will receive a Perth & Kinross Council
travel pass. The passes are issued (via the school) according to
the following conditions:
- The travel pass entitles the holder to travel to/from school at
normal school times, on the contract(s)/service(s) identified on
the front of the pass.
- The travel pass is not transferable and can only be used by the
pupil named on the front of the pass.
- The pass must be shown to the driver at the start of each
journey or on demand to any employee of either the operator or the
Public Transport Unit.
- The pass is to be returned to the Public Transport Unit if the
pass holder ceases to attend school prior to the expiry date shown
on the front of the pass. Failure to do so will render the pass
holder liable to an appropriate charge.
If a travel pass is lost, damaged or stolen it should be
reported to the school immediately. The school will issue a letter
of authorisation for travel until the replacement pass is received.
A £4.00 charge will be made for each replacement pass issued.
The replacement pass will be issued via the child's school.
Pupils travelling on special needs transport contracts will not
usually be issued with travel passes.
