Bus Priority Measures

Perth and Kinross Council a team dedicated to promoting sustainable travel to schools and local communities. The Sustainable Transport Team works with these groups and developers to encourage people to use alternatives to the private car.
We promote walking, cycling, public transport and using technology to avoid travelling. The team also develops schemes to support this objective.
As well as having the dedicated bus lanes on Glasgow Road, Barrack Street and Strathmore Street all city centre signals have a Bus Priority system whereby the traffic control system gives priority to buses that are travelling through the signals. This system of Bus Priority has been implemented at over 30 junctions throughout Perth to help reduce bus journey times.
