Cycling in Perth and Kinross
Perth & Kinross Council work with a range of partner organisations to support and promote cycling as widely as possible. Whether you are an experienced cyclist looking for some new routes, or whether you have never cycled before, our web pages should be able to provide you with the necessary information to help you.
If you cannot find the information, contact us on 01738 477388 or email

Why cycle?
- Cycling is an enjoyable way to get around and an excellent way to get fit and stay healthy
- 30 minutes of cycling each day will halve the risk of heart disease, reduce stress and improve strength
- Cycling is good for the environment, reducing pollution and cutting congestion
- Cycling is fun, sociable and saves you money
Traffic congestion and pollution is becoming more and more of a problem in our towns and cities. Air pollution levels in some parts of Perth are giving cause for concern. Give cycling a try and you'll find out what an enjoyable and versatile means of transport it is.
Cycle events and rides
Various cycling events and activities are held across Perth & Kinross each year. Details of what is on this autumn can be found under cycling events.
We are currently planning and co-ordinating activities for 2010. The Etape Caledonia will be back in Highland Perthshire in May 2010 along with the Highland Perthshire Cycling Festival in Aberfeldy. We are also hoping to organise some exciting cycling activities for the Perth 800 celebrations.
Cycle Ride Leaders
Perth & Kinross Council have information about people in the area trained as day ride leaders, cycle trainers, trail cycle leaders and mountain bike leaders. The council has supported the training of a number of these people. If you or your organisation needs a cycle leader get in touch on 01738 477388.
