Perth & Kinross Council Archive
Interested in finding out about your house, your community or your family? Do you have a history project or essay to do? Or perhaps you need to check a Council decision? With records dating back over eight hundred years, the Archive is where you can research the people and places of Perthshire and Kinross-shire.
The Archive looks after records that have been created by Perth and Kinross Council and its predecessors. We also look after collections that have been created by local families, individuals, estates, societies, communities, organisations and businesses.
Most of our records are paper and ink documents, but they also include parchment, vellum and photographs. We have maps, plans, bundles of letters, boxes of contracts, volumes of minutes, personal diaries, legal documents, registers, official files - the list is endless
You can
come and study the records in our search room. We provide descriptive lists to each collection as well as some
source lists, indexes and
summaries. They are all designed to help you find the records you need. And of course, the Archive staff are always there to help and advise you.
By collecting, preserving and making available the historical records of the region, the Archive is helping to secure the cultural heritage of Perthshire and Kinross-shire.
