Perth Crematorium refurbishment & access to Gardens of Remembrance
Due to the construction works associated with the Crematorium Refurbishment and phase 1 of the Perth Transport Futures project, public access to the Gardens of Remembrance is restricted for public safety for the duration of the works.
Whilst the contractors will ensure the areas they are working in are securely fenced off, there will be construction traffic using the driveway during the normal working week and there will only be limited public car parking available at the Crematorium.
As such, for members of the public to access the gardens safely between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, they are asked to make appointments with the Crematorium staff who will be working from temporary accommodation on site during the building refurbishment and road works. As construction works will generally not be undertaken at weekends, the areas of the Gardens not fenced off by the contractors will be open to members of the public without appointment, and visitors are advised to observe and respect the safety signage and information displayed within the grounds.
When visiting the Crematorium and Gardens, visitors should be aware that changes have been made to the entrance on Crieff Road and driveway as part of the A9/A85 road works. The main Crematorium car park is also closed and limited public car parking space has been made available and is signed on the left hand side of the entrance driveway near the building. Visitors can also turn via the signposted one way system in operation at the car park area.
For visitors who require access to water, a new water point has been installed at the Summer Garden, outside the construction areas.
Between September and November 2017, it is likely that the contractors will also be working at weekends, and public access to the Gardens will therefore only be possible between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, by prior appointment with Crematorium staff.
Further information on this and any other changes to access arrangements will be notified via the Council website, on social media and through local newspapers. Any enquiries about access or appointments should be directed to Crematorium staff on 01738 459659 or alternatively by email to ESCremations@pkc.gov.uk. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind visitors that the Book of Remembrance can now be viewed at North Inch Community Campus Library, Gowans Terrace, Perth, PH1 5BF during their opening hours, where it will remain until the Crematorium is re-opened.
The Council would again apologise for the disruption and any inconvenience during these essential works and would thank the public for their patience and understanding for this period. Once the works are complete, and early in the New Year, the new building facilities, car park and gardens will be fully re-opened to visitors.
