Bertha Park High School Project - Building a New Community
A review of our school estate identified a new Perth secondary school as a priority. The new Bertha Park High School reflects the projected growth in population and resulting house building and infrastructure required to support this.
In 2013, Perth and Kinross Council accepted funding from the Scottish Government's Schools for the Future (SFT) initiative for a new secondary school in Perth.
A Formal Consultation on the proposal to establish a new Secondary School at Bertha Park, Perth took place from 11 September 2014 until 19 November 2014, which included public meetings.
The proposal was to establish a secondary school at Bertha Park; alter the catchment areas for Perth Grammar, Perth High and Perth Academy to create a new catchment area; and to establish temporary accommodation arrangements at Perth Grammar School for the first cohort pupils transferring to Bertha Park High School which will open in August 2019.
The Council's Lifelong Learning Committee approved these proposals in the final report [182Kb] on 4 November 2015.
Since then the Council has been working to achieve Financial Close on the new school (contract signed on 29 September 2017) and has formed a Project Team to establish the staffing and transition arrangements for the new school. Meetings with parents and carers of the first cohort of pupils to attend Bertha Park High School have also taken place, with the latest one held on 3 October 2017. A Headteacher has now been appointed for Bertha Park Secondary School.

Construction is progressing well and the new school will be ready for occupation in August 2019.
