Childcare Recruitment and Careers Event
Perth & Kinross Council's Childcare Strategy Team is hosting a Recruitment and Careers Event on Tuesday 20 February. The event is aimed at employers in the childcare sector in Perth and Kinross and local people who are either working in childcare within this area or thinking about a career in childcare locally. The drop-in event will be held between 3pm and 7pm at Perth Grammar School's Community Wing.
A range of organisations will be in attendance. Council representatives will be available to discuss career options in early learning and childcare including kids'clubs and out of school care clubs, crèches and Modern Apprentice (MA) opportunities, childminding as a career and the range of training and support available.
Representatives of Perth College UHI and training providers will also be in attendance to highlight the training and various Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) in childcare which are available. SVQs are accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Agency (SQA) and are based on national standards to provide evidence that learners have the skills required to do their jobs well. SVQs are normally studied in the workplace, in college or with training providers.
Convener of Perth & Kinross Council's Lifelong Learning Committee, Councillor Caroline Shiers commented: "This drop-in session provides a great opportunity to talk to professionals about getting into a career in childcare and to find out about the training available for those already working in the sector.
"If you are looking for a new job or a change of career and like the idea of working with children in a professional capacity or if you are managing or running an early years and childcare service which currently has vacancies then this event is definitely for you!"
