We're #ProudToSupportFostering in Perth and Kinross
With this year's Foster Care Fortnight coming up very soon (Monday 14 to Sunday 27 May 2018), Perth & Kinross Council is highlighting the opportunities available for anyone who would like to make a difference to youngsters in need, by becoming a family-based carer.
More foster carers and supported lodgings providers are being sought by the Council, as well as prospective adoptive parents, who are ready and willing to open their homes and lives to children and young people who need a stable, caring and supportive alternative family environment for a range of reasons.
Lifelong Learning Convener, Councillor Caroline Shiers said: "As a Council, we are definitely proud to support fostering. Foster Care Fortnight is a great chance to highlight the important role that our carers play year-round in helping children and young people to grow and flourish.
Putting family-based care in the spotlight like this we also hope will encourage anyone who is interested in fostering, supported lodgings or adoption to contact us and find out more, and potentially begin their journey to becoming a carer with us."
As part of the Council's ongoing recruitment campaign, Education and Children's Services social work staff will be out and about during May and June 2018 to provide information about family-based care, and answer any questions about becoming a carer.
