J D Fergusson collection

Sideways scrolling

J D Fergusson was a prolific artist and an associated member of the Scottish Colourist group. He produced a vast array of drawings, paintings and sculptures during a career that spanned over 60 years. The Fergusson Gallery holds a fantastic selection of work covering every period in Fergusson's life.

There are over 5,000 works of art, including oil paintings, watercolours, drawings, sketchbooks and sculptures.  In addition, we hold around 6,000 archival items, which includes photographs, letters, exhibition catalogues and news cuttings as well as Fergusson's library, many personal items and the sofa that he had made for his very first studio in Edinburgh in the 1890s.
