Request a second bin
If you find that your household bins are full on collection day, you may qualify for a second bin.
Additional blue and brown recycling bins
Householders currently on the 3 bin system, can apply to have up to 2 blue-lidded, and 2 brown-lidded bins. In addition, if you have a small blue-lidded bin, you can request this is swapped for a larger one. You can apply for additional recycling bins, or upgrade your small recycling bin, by emailing your request (including your address) to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additional green bins for non-recyclable waste
The Council appreciates that there are some households who will produce additional waste which cannot be recycled. A second waste bin may be available to households with:
- 5 or more permanent residents
- 2 children aged 3 or under in disposable nappies living in the property
- a permanent resident who produces non-recyclable, non-hazardous, healthcare waste
If your household meets one of the conditions above, you can apply online for a second 140L pink/purple-lidded waste bin.
Once your application has been received, an adviser will contact you to arrange a home visit to view documents to support your application. All personal information will be handled sensitively and in confidence. Information provided will only be used to ensure the appropriate capacity of non-recyclable waste is provided.
Due to demand for this service, bins will only be issued once documents have been checked by a member of staff. Only approved second waste bins will be emptied.
Renewing your additional pink/purple waste bins
Householders who have received a renewal letter for their additional waste bin can re-register online.
Once your registration form has been received, an adviser may contact you if supporting documents are required to be checked. If there have been any changes in circumstances which alter your eligibility prior to your next renewal date, then it is your responsibility to notify the Council.
