Dry mixed recycling for business

Recycle your paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and containers, cans and cartons using our Commercial Dry Mixed Recycling service

Why should your business recycle?

Legislation

Under the Waste (Scotland) Regulations, all businesses in Scotland are required to recycle their paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and containers, cans and glass bottles and jars.

Recycling Services are a more cost effective way of dealing with your waste than residual (non-recyclable) waste, which is sent to landfill. Compared to processing recycled waste, disposing of residual waste is far more costly due to landfill tax, which rises year on year. By using these services you will also be contributing to a drive for greater resource efficiency in Scotland by diverting waste away from landfill.

VAT-Free Solutions

Local Authority commercial waste collection services are outside the scope of VAT, therefore collection services provided by Perth and Kinross Council are not subject to VAT.

What can I recycle using this service?

Perth & Kinross Council's Commercial icon Dry Mixed Recycling Collection [296Kb] guide provides information on the types of recycling we accept from your business.

Do I have to recycle using a bin?

The Council can offer customers who do not have space for a container, or who only produce cardboard waste, a cardboard only collection. The information in our icon Cardboard [441Kb] guide provides details on the materials we uplift.

You can purchase green labels in a pack of 50 and each label can be used for up to 10 flattened boxes placed in a secure manageable bundle at the kerbside.

What additional support is available?

Understanding your waste is key to introducing a cost effective waste and recycling collection service. Our Commercial Waste Team have created a icon Waste and Recycling Audit Sheet [170Kb] to identify what your waste consists of, in terms of both the type and approximate volume of waste being produced. This audit can give you an idea of what services your business or organisation requires.

If these services are of interest to your business or organisation, our Commercial Waste and Recycling Team can provide a free Zero Waste Compliance.  You can also:

How to avoid contamination

Contaminated recycling bins are a big problem across Scotland at the moment. To ensure your bin is emptied and not refused due to contamination, join householders in Sticking to the Six and only recycling paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, plastic containers, cans and cartons.

If your bin has been refused due to contamination, please removed the incorrect items and re-present on your next scheduled collection day. If your bin is too contaminated to correct yourself, please contact the Commercial Waste Team for options for disposal as general waste.
