Supplementary Guidance - Airfield safeguarding
Draft Supplementary Guidance (LDP2)
The Council recently consulted (1st May - 12 June 2019) on draft Supplementary Guidance on Airfield Safeguarding for the next Local Development Plan. This Supplementary Guidance will replace the current adopted Supplementary Guidance.
Adopted Supplementary Guidance
The purpose of the Airfield Safeguarding Supplementary Guidance [3Mb] is to protect both the airspace over and around the airfields in Perth and Kinross from the effects of possible adverse developments that may affect safe operation by controlling the use of land.
Perth Airport is a licensed airfield and is safeguarded in line with CAA document CAP 168 Licensing of Aerodromes and is not subject to this Guidance.
The Airfield Safeguarding Supplementary Guidance was consulted on alongside the Proposed Local Development Plan. The Guidance relates to Local Development Plan Policy EP13: Airfield Safeguarding and was adopted in October 2014.
New airfields not included in the supplementary guidance
In October 2012 Planning Permission was granted for an unlicensed airstrip at Bachilton Farm, near Methven. This airstrip has not been included in the Supplementary Guidance at present but will be included when it is next reviewed. Until this review the principles of the Guidance will be considered when determining planning applications within the vicinity of the airfield.
