|Agency Brief||New Opportunities offers a range of programmes for young people who may not know what they want to study when they leave school, or may need a little more support to be able to follow their chosen career path. Our aim is to ensure learning is accessible and rewarding as possible for all those who wish to participate at all stages in their lives.|
|Target Client Group||For young people who have just left school, are Christmas leavers, or been unemployed for a while.|
NC Personal and Vocational Studies (Next Steps 2 Learning) is a full time course designed to support young people to gain the confidence to make an informed choice about their Next Steps. This course involves working with subject specialists in
different areas of the college; for example, health and fitness, computing, hospitality and construction. It also includes Employability, volunteering and Core Skills
This is a one year full-time programme.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but you will be invited to discuss your application with a member of the team and must be able to demonstrate the
ability to work at SCQF level 3 (also known as Access 3)
|Referral||Referrals may come through schools via our Transitions Officers, or applicants can apply online through the usual Perth College application form|
|Outcome||You will work towards an NC in Personal and Vocational Studies|
|Progression||Upon completion, you may be able to move on to further study at Perth College UHI or employment or other relevant training provision such as Employability funded programmes.|
Stage 1 Referral/Engagement Activity - Examples of this is early engagement activity, identification of client need and development of an action plan.
Stage 2 Barrier Removal - Examples of this is barrier removal activities and confidence building, support to develop core skills such as numeracy and literacy, holistic activities linked to individual needs and employability skills.
