To provide opportunities for young people to transform their life circumstances by re-engaging and engaging with learning, ability to succeed, achieve progression into education, training or employment.

Target Client Group16-17 years olds and 18-24 year olds.
Programmes Offered

Challenge Fund (Level 1) programme offering early engagement activity, identification of client needs and development of an action plan.

Employability Fund programmes for Stage 2 and 3 of the Employability pipeline.

Stage 2 offers core skill qualifications and One Life Certifications and development of an action plan.

Stage 3 offers a Level 4 SQA Employability Qualification.

Modern apprenticeships for those employed in Hospitality & Catering, Retail and Administration.

Eligibility16-17 unemployed young people/recent unemployed school leavers and 18-24 year old unemployed people.

Challenge fund referrals can be done through any organisation, SDS, DWP or self-referred.

16-17 years old unemployed. Learners are referred into Stage 2 and 3 of the Employability Fund programme by Skills Development Scotland.

Rathbone interview the young person to establish their needs. An individual action plan is drawn up by SDS Adviser.

Anyone in receipt of benefit is referred through DWP.

Self-referrals are welcome.

Stages Covered

Stage 1 Referral/Engagement Activity - Examples of this is early engagement activity, identification of client need and development of an action plan.

Stage 2 Barrier Removal - Examples of this is barrier removal activities and confidence building, support to develop core skills such as numeracy and literacy, holistic activities linked to individual needs and employability skills.

Stage 3 Vocational Activity - Examples of this may include job search, work experience, employability skills and accredited pre-employment training for core skills
