Early Learning and Childcare Consultation 2018-19
Perth & Kinross Council is seeking the views of parents and carers with babies, under-fives and school-age children regarding care and early education provision in the local area through a short online survey which is now open.
Under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, councils are required to consult with families with young children no less than every two years regarding the entitlement to early learning and childcare (ELC) and childcare in the broadest sense.
The survey aimed to gain insight around the following areas:
- The future delivery of ELC, (formerly known as pre-school education);
- Experience of arranging and using childcare services;
- Anticipated needs around childcare in the future.
Informing future options
Results will be used to inform future options offered to families accessing funded ELC places and the Childcare Strategy Team's work to support the development of sustainable childcare services across Perth and Kinross.
The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete online.
It will remain open until 31 January 2019.
Perth & Kinross Convener of Education & Lifelong Learning, Councillor Caroline Shiers commented:
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the families who have taken the time to participate in this consultation in advance. The consultation results will help the Council shape how ELC is delivered across Perth and Kinross in the future. Results for specific geographic areas will also be used to inform the development of local childcare services including childminding."
