Guildtown Primary School Nursery opens its doors

As part of Perth & Kinross Council's work to prepare for the upcoming (August 2020) expansion of funded early learning and childcare provision to 1140 hours, Guildtown Primary School in Eastern Perthshire opened its new nursery's doors to children earlier this week (Monday 25 November 2019).

With the rural primary school now registered with the Care Inspectorate to deliver ELC, it will initially offer 600 hours of funded ELC five morning sessions a week for 8 children, and open up for afternoons in due course thereafter.

From August 2020, Guildtown Primary will offer the full 1140 hours during term-time, 9.00 am to 3.00 pm; these hours will be available to apply for from January 2020.

Executive Director, Education and Children's Services Sheena Devlin said:  "The expansion of Early Learning and Childcare from August 2020 means that all three to five year olds and eligible two year olds and their families in Perth and Kinross will be able to benefit from a significant increase in available hours of high-quality, affordable and accessible childcare. As part of that roll-out, this new provision at Guildtown Primary School will increase options for families in the local area, and we are looking forward to welcoming children into the nursery."
